Jonckholt ruins
Fort dated from the time of the county of Loon

The area offers many opportunities for activities and is a paradise for cyclists and walkers. At the back of the house are the ruins of the Jonckholt. Jonckholt was o loan from the county of Loon. Today, thanks to the archaelogical research, you can fully admire the floor plan of this medieval fortress. The foundations of the maristone walls and the robust corner towers rise almost undamaged from the marshy soil.
This site was created around 1225-50 as a digged and walled settlement with five wooden buildings on an artificial plateau in the Meersbeek valley. Here you can wander and imagine yourself as a knight or princess for a moment. With a bit of imagination you will be brought back into the Middle Ages. A beautiful walk connects this site with the castle of Groenendaal.
